Come and share the Table of the Andes

Full Day

Take this unique opportunity to taste the real flavor of the Andes!

On this full day experience you’ll have the chance to go from coast to the Andes and its beautiful highland landscapes; colorful mountains, volcanic shaped sights, interesting flora and lively fauna while visiting and being hosted by real inhabitants of this high plateau, the Aymaras.

You’ll have the chance to sit and taste the authentic food, organically grown and hand processed food, without any additives or other chemicals. From the farm to your table! Cooked with care by expert local hands. Take this opportunity to taste the real llama or alpaca meat, fresh quinoacactus juice, fava beans, potatoes and other locally grown products. Vegetarians and vegans are welcomed to this table!

From the coastal city of Iquique you’ll cross the desert, gaining altitude on every kilometer and watching the changing landscape around you. We’ll visit the Tajgrapata rock boulders crowned by the colorful Huayna Potosi climb. Crossing the Aroma creek and its beautiful sights we’ll reach the Aymara town of Cariquima. Just a few kilometers more separate us from lunch! A small adobe made village on the feet of the “frozen carnival” rock formation is our destination of today, here, an Aymara (the local ethnic group) couple is waiting to share its food and table with you; you’ll be able to talk and taste everything, learning about this different way of living, respect for their animals, growing vegetables techniques, quinoa growing, cleaning and cooking technique and much more.

After lunch, we say good bye to our hosts and head to the small Villablanca lake, where many species of birds feed and nest under the sight of Cariquima volcano and the gorgeous looks of the “bofedal” and its yellow and green tones.

After the sights and flavors of the highlands we start the driving back to the city of Iquique, arriving by night.
