Overview

The little village of Guallatire is located 77 km south from Putre following the A-211 road which changes name to A-235 main after km 46. Sits at 4,244 m above the sea level on the base of the 6,000 + volcano of the same name. There is a Police station (Carabineros), Park rangers station (CONAF) and a small Inn for food and lodging.

Accommodation

There are 2 rooms available, they are administrated by Mrs. Betty (Spanish spoken only); they have a private restroom which share between the two rooms. Hot water shower is not available.

Room 1: Double room; one double bed which comes with bed sheets, pillow and blankets.

Room 2: Double room; two single beds which comes with bed sheets, pillow and blankets.

None of the rooms has heating; however beds have heavy blankets.

Food

Mrs Betty offers breakfast, lunch and dinner (up to 19hrs) She has some groceries to shop as well. A meal should cost between CLP$3,000 to CLP$5,500 per person and I would consist on a soup or salad plus a main dish. While tea or herbal infusions might be included, soft drinks and instant coffee are not.

There are not local guides in town.

No drugs, loud music or heavy drinking are allowed. Please, smoke in open areas away from the houses.

Only cash (Chilean pesos) are accepted at the Inn.
